About Orange Cat Art

Orange Cat Art Orange Cat Art consists of the photography of a small group of North Carolina artists, led by sisters Jill M. Davis and Sheri Symanski. We all enjoy creating images of the natural environment, and the wide variety of landscapes in our home state has lead us to feature primarily N.C. imagery. Our photography ranges from broad landscapes and beloved regional scenes, such as a view from Mount Mitchell, to fine details of hidden treasures, such as the morning dew on a lily petal. In our photography, we try to create a moment of stillness for the viewer to contemplate, reflect and be inspired.

Davis began her journey as a visual artist at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she studied photojournalism in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Since that time, she has worked in a variety of editorial and commercial photography pursuits, ranging from editing photographs at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta for Reuters News Pictures, to being a digital image editor, manager, and producer for advertising & editorial photography studios.

Symanski is a former public relations professional presently living in the University City area of Charlotte. Her photographic endeavors began as a hobby, one that goes hand in hand with her enjoyment of traveling and hiking, especially in the mountains of North Carolina. She has vast experience with writing, layout and design, and marketing in both the profit and non-profit arenas.

Davis and Symanski created Orange Cat Art in 2003 as an opportunity to share their love of photography with others. They now display and sell their images as prints, note cards and calendars through galleries, festivals and retail locations across the state of North Carolina.
